Acute Cholecystitis and Acute Pancreatitis related to Hemobilia after Percutaneous Liver Biopsy

Banu Demet Özel Coşkun · Gülten Sezgin · Guven Kahraman

Percutaneous liver biopsy is a reliable method used for the diagnosis and follow-up of many liver diseases. Although it is safe, major complications, such as free intraperitoneal bleeding, hemothorax, pneumothorax, hemobilia, and Pseudoaneurysm, have rarely been reported to be related to the procedure. The reported rate of hemobilia after performing percutaneous liver biopsy is approximately 0.06%. This event usually results from a hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm and can potentially cause fatal bleeding. In addition, acute cholecystitis and pancreatitis are rare complications of hemobilia. To the best of our knowledge, we report the third case of a patient who developed hemobilia, acute cholecystitis, and acute pancreatitis from a pseudoaneurysm after performing percutaneous liver biopsy. The bleeding was successfully controlled by angiographic embolization with glue and lipidiol.

Evaluation of OnabotulinumtoxinA Treatment in Patients with Concomitant Chronic Migraine and Temporomandibular Disorders

Gülşen Kocaman · Neşe Kahraman · Banu Gürkan Köseoğlu +5 more

Migraine and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are both common diseases and TMD are reported as a risk factor in migraine progression. OnabotulinumtoxinA is used in the treatment of chronic migraine (CM), and also has a potential role in TMD treatment. In this study, it is aimed to compare the efficacy of onabotulinumtoxinA treatment in CM patients with and without TMD.

Monthly Pulse Methylprednisolone Therapy Is Effective in Preventing Permanent Disease Progression in Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

Serkan Özakbaş · Bilge Piri Çınar · Didem Öz +3 more

Secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) is the phase in which disability continues to worsen with or without accompanying attacks. Monthly methylprednisolone pulse therapy can be used in the secondary progressive phase. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of methylprednisolone pulse therapy on the basis of clinical and MRI parameters in patients with SPMS.

Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Version of the 8-Item Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire

Turhan Kahraman · Arzu Genç · Fatih Söke +3 more

Symptomatic control and improvement of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is a key feature of the management of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). The 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ) and its short version, PDQ-8, validated disease-specific patient-reported instruments, have been highly recommended to use for assessing HRQoL in patients with PD. The aim of this study was to assess the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the PDQ-8.

A Case of Pulmonary Alveolar Microlithiasis Diagnosed by Transbronchial Biopsy

Hüseyin Arpağ · Muhammet Sayan · Nurhan Atilla +4 more

Pulmonary alveolar microlithiasis is a rare infiltrative pulmonary disease, in which intraalveolar accumulation of small stones (microliths) consisting of calcium phosphatite occurs. It is an autosomal recessive disorder. The disease occurs as a result of the disruption of type IIb sodium phosphate cotransporter in type II alveolar cells after the mutation of SLC34A2 . Majority of patients are diagnosed between age 20 and 40. Here, we present a case of alveolar microlithiasis that was diagnosed with transbronchial biopsy.

A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF PANSHARPENING ALGORITHMS FOR GÖKTÜRK-2 SATELLITE IMAGES

Sevcan Kahraman · Alp Ertürk

In this paper, a comprehensive review and performance evaluation of pansharpening algorithms for GÖKTÜRK-2 images is presented. GÖKTÜRK-2 is the first high resolution remote sensing satellite of Turkey which was designed and built in Turkey, by The Ministry of Defence, TUBITAK-UZAY and Turkish Aerospace Industry (TUSAŞ) collectively. GÖKTÜRK-2 was launched at 18th. December 2012 in Jinguan, China and provides 2.5 meter panchromatic (PAN) and 5 meter multispectral (MS) spatial resolution satellite images. In this study, a large number of pansharpening algorithms are implemented and evaluated for performance on multiple GÖKTÜRK-2 satellite images. Quality assessments are conducted both qualitatively through visual results and quantitatively using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Correlation Coefficient (CC), Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM), Erreur Relative Globale Adimensionnelle de Synthése (ERGAS), Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) and Universal Image Quality Index (UIQI)
