Structural, electrical and optical properties of CdS thin films and the effect of annealing on photoconductivity

Haidar Jwad Abdul-Ameer Al-Rehamey

Cadmium sulfide (CdS) thin films with n-type semiconductor characteristics were prepared by flash evaporating method on glass substrates. Some films were annealed at 250 oC for 1hr in air. The thicknesses of the films was estimated to be 0.5µ by the spectrometer measurement. Structural, morphological, electrical, optical and photoconductivity properties of CdS films have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, AFM, the Hall effect, optical transmittance spectra and photoconductivity analysis, respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern shows that CdS films are in the stable hexagonal crystalline structure. Using Debye Scherrerś formula, the average grain size for the samples was found to be 26 nm. The transmittance of the samples was determined from optical trasmittance spectra. It is observed that the direct band gap energy for as deposited and annealed films are (2.55, 2.45) eV, respectively. The effect of annealing at 250 oC for 1hr in air on optical and photoconductivity of films under various intensity of illuminations (43.81 and 115.12) mW/cm2 was studied. The dark and photocurrents of the annealed films were found to be greater than that of as deposited.

Temperature effect on optical properties of nickel (ii) phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodium salt (NiPcTs) organic thin films

Ameer F. Abdulameer

This study describe the effect of temperature on the opticalproperties of nickel(ii) phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid tetrasodiumsalt (NiPcTs) organic thin films which are prepared by spin coatingon indium tin oxide (ITO-glass). The optical absorption spectra ofthese thin films are measured. Present studies reveal that the opticalband gap energies of NiPcTs thin films are dependent on theannealing temperatures. The optical band gap decreases with increasein annealing temperature, then increased when the temperature risingto 473K. To enhance the results of Uv-Vis measurements and getmore accurate values of optical energy gaps; the Photoluminescencespectra of as-deposited and annealed NiPcTs thin films was studied.FTIR measurements for NiPcTs thin films also carried out in thiswork and gave good information about the NiPcTs bonds and itslocations as a compared with H2Pc as a reference.

Outdoor testing of a Zig-Zag Solarair heater with and without artificial roughness on absorber plate

Mahmoud Maustafa Mahdi · Ameer Abed Gaddoa.

In this paper, thermal performance of a zig-zig solar air heater (ZZSAH) with and without using steel wire mesh on the absorber plate of the collector is experimentally investigated. The experimental work includes four inclination angles of the collector 20o, 30o, 45o, and 60o and four air mass flow rates of 0.03, 0.04, 0.06, and 0.08 kg/s under varieties of operating conditions of a geographic location of Baghdad. New correlation equations of Nusselt number are obtained from experimental results for both types of collectors where the effect of varying of the inclination angle of collector taken into consideration in the experiment. The correlations show good agreement with the present experimental data. In addition, the effects of mass flow rate and temperature rise across the efficiency of collector air heater are investigated. The results reveal that the efficiency of (ZZSAH) at 45o inclination angle reaches the highest values among other degrees of inclination angles for both types of collectors under study. The results also show that the addition of wire mesh magnifies the effect of inclination angle.

Geological Model of the Tight Reservoir (Sadi Reservoir-Southern of Iraq)

Ameer Kadhum Noori · Samaher A. Lazim · Ahmed A. Ramadhan

A3D geological model was constructed for Al-Sadi reservoir/ Halfaya Oil Field which is discovered in 1976 and located 35 km from Amara city, southern of Iraq towards the Iraqi/ Iranian borders. Petrel 2014 was used to build the geological model. This model was created depending on the available information about the reservoir under study such as 2D seismic map, top and bottom of wells, geological data & well log analysis (CPI). However, the reservoir was sub-divided into 132x117x80 grid cells in the X, Y&Z directions respectively, in order to well represent the entire Al-Sadi reservoir. Well log interpretation (CPI) and core data for the existing 6 wells were the basis of the petrophysical model (Porosity, Water saturation, & Permeability) that were distributed for all the created grids and then upscaled.

Development of Bridges Maintenance Management System based on Geographic Information System Techniques (Case study: AlMuthanna \ Iraq)

Saif Abdul Ameer Wattan · Maythm Al-Bakri

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computerized database management system for accumulating, storage, retrieval, analysis, and display spatial data. In general, GIS contains two broad categories of information, geo-referenced spatial data and attribute data. Geo-referenced spatial data define objects that have an orientation and relationship in two or three-dimensional space, while attribute data is qualitative data that can be counted for recording and analysis. The main aim of this research is to reveal the role of GIS technology in the enhancement of bridge maintenance management system components such as the output results, and make it more interpretable through dynamic colour coding and more sophisticated visualization techniques than the conventional tabular data format. To achieve the main objective of this research, two study areas have been chosen: the old construction bridge (Al-Qadisiyah bridge) and the newly constructed bridge (Barboty bridge). Both of them are in Al-Muthanna city \ Iraq. The data collection process was achieved in two stages: the first stage is providing a georeferenced satellite image for each study area for the purpose of producing a two-dimensional map. The second stage includes the field surveying process by total station and level instruments. GIS have been used to create a comprehensive database (Geodatabase) for both study areas. Geostatistical analysis was carried out in which the settlement areas of both study areas were defined by producing a colour image. The statistical tables for these analyses showed that the highest decline in the elevation reached at Al-Qadisiyah bridge to 19 mm in the middle of the bridge which is coloured as a red area. On the other hand, it was found that the highest decline in the elevation of the Barboty bridge is 16 mm in the last part of steel space which is also coloured as a red area.
