Anomalies detection on spatially inhomogeneous polyzonal images

Nikita Andriyanov · Konstantin Vasiliev · Vitaly Dementiev

The text deals with the problem of detecting anomalies on a background of multi-dimensional images. We synthesized a detection algorithm based on the use of doubly stochastic models of random fields and which requires pre-filtering the image. We propose to use the modified Kalman filter. We also investigated an efficiency of extended signals detection on real images. It is shown that the resulting algorithm has a higher efficiency than the known algorithms which based on the traditional autoregressive image description. The gain is explained by more adequate description of the real inhomogeneous material using doubly stochastic models.

Novel RNA biomarkers of prostate cancer revealed by RNA-seq analysis of formalin-fixed samples obtained from Russian patients

Due to heterogeneous multifocal nature of prostate cancer (PCa), there is currently a lack of biomarkers that stably distinguish it from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), predict clinical outcome and guide the choice of optimal treatment. In this study RNA-seq analysis was applied to formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tumor and matched normal tissue samples collected from Russian patients with PCa and BPH. We identified 3384 genes differentially expressed (DE) (FDR < 0.05) between tumor tissue of PCa patients and adjacent normal tissue as well as both tissue types from BPH patients. Overexpression of four of the discovered genes (ANKRD34B, NEK5, KCNG3, and PTPRT) was validated by RT-qPCR. Furthermore, the enrichment analysis of overrepresented microRNA and transcription factor (TF) recognition sites within DE genes revealed common regulatory elements of which 13 microRNAs and 53 TFs were thus linked to PCa for the first time. Moreover, 8 of these TFs (FOXJ2, GATA6, NFE2L1, NFIL3, PRRX2, TEF, EBF2 and ZBTB18) were found to be differentially expressed in this study making them not only candidate biomarkers of prostate cancer but also potential therapeutic targets.

SAFETY AND IMMUNOGENICITY OF COLD-ADAPTED RECOMBINANT INFLUENZA VECTOR EXPRESSING ESAT-6 AND AG85А ANTIGENS OF M. TUBERCULOSIS

Maria V. Sergeeva · Anastasia Pulkina · K. A. Vasiliev +6 more

Recombinant viral vectors represent one of the most promising platforms for creating a new generation of vaccines against tuberculosis. We constructed a vaccine candidate based on a cold-adapted influenza vector with a truncated NS1 protein containing an insert of tuberculosis ESAT-6 and Ag85A antigens. The recombinant virus possessed a cold-adapted and temperature-sensitive phenotype and was attenuated for mice when administered intranasally. Immunofluorescent staining and Western blot showed the expression of ESAT-6 protein in MDCK cells infected by recombinant virus. After intranasal administration to mice, the recombinant virus stimulated a specific anti-tuberculosis CD4 + Th1-type response with the formation of polyfunctional antigen-specific T cells.

Retrospective analysis of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in patients in a metropolis

N. K. Abuduev · Xenia I. Plakhova · А. Б. Рубцов +3 more

Objective: to evaluate the incidence of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), in patients of State Research Center of dermatology and cosmetology Russian Ministry of Health in comparison with indicators of morbidity in the Russian Federation. Material and methods. A retrospective analysis of the structure appeals to the department of infectious urogenital diseases of Russian Ministry of Health for the period from 2011 to 2015. Results. The result of the department of sexually transmitted infections of State Scientific Center for Dermatovenereology and Cosmetologymost frequently recorded patients with anogenital (venereal) warts, syphilis and chlamydial infection. Moreover, the majority of women (52%) identified inflammatory diseases of the vagina, vulva, cervix and changes cervical mucosa. It was found that in Moscow and among patients of State Scientific Center for Dermatovenereology and Cosmetology regardless of sex the most common diseases are anogenital (venereal) warts, while in Russia and Central Federal District -urogenitalny trichomoniasis. Significant prevalence of HPV infection, in view of oncological vigilance and frequent combination with inflammatory diseases of the genital organs, demonstrates the need for prevention of infection among the active population and the fast development of effective methods of early diagnosis and therapy.
