The purpose of this work is to investigate the reduction in location management cost by profiling the subscriber with the sets of call data record (CDR) as inputs for a dynamic network simulation. We propose dynamic intelligent paging using the history of subscribers’ behaviour directly from a CDR dataset along with knowledge of users’ past location to predict their next location and thus reducing the paging resources. Simulated results with the actual user data show 4–5 times better performance than that of conventional paging and 3–4 times better than that of intelligent paging. The specific research contributions regarding the dynamic management algorithm, which can be used along with the existing system without any modifications, are outlined in this work. An illustrative scenario demonstrates the proposed approach with synthetic data. The novelty of this work is that instead of using theoretically predicted data it uses actual CDR data to profile the users.

Single-event effects (SEEs) have been the primary concern in study of radiation effects since late 1970s with the discovery of soft errors in terrestrial and space environments. The interaction of a single ionized particle with electronic devices leads to SEEs. In this paper, single-event upset (SEU) on CMOS devices in designing of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) is analysed. Further, mitigation approaches of SEU are also discussed. To observe the impact of radiation, a VCO was designed in Cadence Virtuoso, and GDSII file of one ring oscillator stage was extracted to incorporate the same design in Silvaco MaskViews. With the help of layer map information file, masks were identified and used to design the CMOS inverter structure file for simulation of SEU condition. The input parameters for SEU simulation were evaluated from linear energy transfer (LET) graph of heavy ion under space conditions. The current profile of CMOS inverter was extracted under influence of a high-energy particle with the help of LET graph of that particle. This current profile was applied to different nodes of VCO and upset conditions were identified. Further, the impact of upset conditions on lock stage of phase-locked loop (PLL) is discussed. Results show that the SEU has significant impact on the logic state of inverters used in ring oscillator stage compared with current starving/biasing stage. The current profile of CMOS device has strong dependence on the energy of ion, its track, angle of incidence and the material. When angle of incidence is very less (\(7^{\circ }-14^{\circ }\)) the channel will be occupied by a funnel of charge and it leads to the maximum degradation of device. This work shows that a device operating at high frequency is more susceptible to SEU. Triple modular redundancy (TMR) and Radiation Hardened By Design (RHBD) can be used to mitigate SEU. TMR consumes more power and is less accurate compared with the RHBD approach.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an important chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) pathogen that exhibits multiple resistances to antibiotics with increasing frequency, making patient treatment more difficult. The aim of the study is to ascertain the genetically diversity of this clinically isolated P. aeruginosa with inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. All 25 P. aeruginosa were isolated from CSOM patients by taking their ear swabs and culturing on blood agar and MacConkey agar. All strains were identified with morphological characters and biochemical testing. The antimicrobial susceptibility testing was carried out according to National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards. ISSR was used to study the genetic diversity of P. aeruginosa . Clinically CSOM isolated 25 P. aeruginosa were 88% Ciprofloxacin resistant and similarly resistant to other antibiotics were documented. The study has been made using ISSR marker to find out the genomic relation among the strains/populations of P. aeruginosa . The result was shown that maximum similarity (80%) was between S-11 and S-13 and minimum (28.2%) was between S-4 and S-16 with an average similarity of 53.2%. The dendogram showed a distinct separation in between all the strains/populations of P. aeruginosa . The strains/populations were broken up into two main clusters in which small one bear two strains/populations (S-4 and S-9) and another cluster have another 23 strains/populations. These 23 strains were also separated to form subcluster by having different range of small clades. The genetically diversity of pathogenic P. aeruginosa present in CSOM at our hospital indicates the coexistence different strains due to different antibiotic sensitivity patterns. The conventional culture and sensitivity methods are time consuming whereas in PCR, it will detect within 4-6 h for effective antibiotic. Basing upon the banding pattern with ISSR primers, clinicians can prescribe the effective antibiotics accordingly for CSOM patients in the same day.

The nasoorbitoethmoidal fractures remain the most complex of all facial fractures to diagnose and treat mainly because of the intricate anatomy and difficulty in fracture fixation. The number of such fractures are increasing with the more incidence of high-speed, high-force accidents. The nasoorbitoethmoidal fractures rarely occur as an isolated event. Associated injuries often include central nervous system injuries, cribriform plate fracture, cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea, and fractures of the frontal bone, orbital floor, and middle third of the face as well as injury to the lacrimal system. The appropriate management of these injuries require an understanding of the anatomic features of the region, the degree of severity of damage. The purpose of this article is to provide a general overview of the topic, with a more specific focus on the pearls of managing these fractures. Twenty-four patients who suffered The nasoorbitoethmoidal fractures with/without associated multiple midfacial injuries were included in the study. Postoperatively, results show stable symmetrical fixation of the canthus in three dimensions with good apposition of the eyelids against the ocular globe along with acceptable nasofrontal angle and nasal prominence. Prompt and proper management of these injuries can achieve both adequate functional and aesthetic outcomes.

The monoamine neurotransmitter, 5‐Hydroxytryptamine or serotonin, is derived from tryptophan and synthesized both centrally and systemically. Fourteen structurally and functionally distinct receptor subtypes have been identified for serotonin, each of which mediates the neurotransmitter’s effects through a range of downstream signaling molecules and effectors. Although it is most frequently described for its role in the etiology of neuropsychiatric and mood disorders, serotonin has been implicated in a slew of fundamental physiological processes, including apoptosis, mitochondrial biogenesis, cell proliferation and migration. Its roles as the neurotransmitter have also emerged in pathogenic conditions ranging from anorexia nervosa to cancer. This has necessitated the understanding of the signaling mechanisms underlying the serotonergic system, which led us to construct a consolidative pathway map, which will provide as a resource for future biomedical investigation on this pathway. Using a set of stringent NetPath annotation criteria, we manually curated molecular reactions associated with serotonin and its receptors from publicly available literature; the reaction categories included molecular associations, activation/inhibition, post‐translation modification, transport, and gene regulation at transcription and translational level. We identified 90 molecules in serotonin‐serotonin receptor pathway. We submitted the curated data to NetPath, a publicly available database of human signaling pathways, in order to enable the wider scientific community to readily access data and contribute further to this pathway.

Molecular breeding in sesame is still at infancy due to limited number of microsatellite markers available and the low level of polymorphism exhibited by them. Therefore, whole genome sequencing was used for development of microsatellite markers so as to ensure availability of substantial number of polymorphic markers for use in marker assisted breeding programs. Whole genome sequencing of sesame variety 'Swetha' was done using Illumina paired-end sequencing and Roche 454 shotgun sequencing technologies (GCA_000975565.1 in GenBank). 'GinMicrosatDb', a genome-wide microsatellite marker database has been developed using the whole genome sequence data of sesame variety 'Swetha'. The database consists of microsatellites localized on both linkage groups and scaffolds with their genomic co-ordinates. It provides five sets of forward and reverse primers for each of the microsatellite loci along with the flanking sequences, primer GC content, product size and melting temperature etc. The distribution of microsatellites can be viewed and selected through a genome browser as well as through a physical map. The newly identified microsatellite markers are expected to help sesame breeders in developing marker tags for traits of economic importance thereby bringing about greater efficiency in marker-assisted selection programs.

Eleven pigmented rice genotypes were evaluated to estimate genetic parameters, heritability and association. The results indicated that, genotypic variation was high among the lines. The distinct seasonal effect on plant performance for antioxidant capacity, anthocyanin, flavonoids, head rice recovery and test weights was also observed. Wet season favoured the crop performance in all genotypes as compared to drought conditions. The differential accumulation of different quality traits such as AOA, anthocyanin content, flavonoids content, etc showed high heritability, which would be transfer to high yeilding popular rice cultivars through conventional or geneticaly modification techniques. The line Mamihunger was chosen as donor of the high-quality rice grain and Annapurna for high yield. Further, Mamihunger are foreseen to be good in nutritional quality and industry use.
