To guarantee an enterprise’s survival and its development, the demand for insurance exists. This will possibly result to an individual resorting to risky actions for the sake of his/her organization. In fact, the rate of insurance penetration is still low although entrepreneurs’ businesses are growing rapidly. This paper aims to identify specific elements in an organization which give impacts on the general demand for Takaful product. Furthermore, readings of literature are studied in detail to create organization’s characteristics for insurance demand. This literature reading is also done in order to describe the existing models of general Takaful demand. As a result, it is found that the characteristics of organization for general insurance demand comprise of geographical concentration, line of business, size, and regulation. In this study, the predicted utility theory of the organization’s owner is assimilated for the creation of a suitable model and framework for the research regarding the demand for general Takaful. In previous studies, the aspect of the impact of the risk-taking propensity, depending on the level of risk, as a key mediating variable were not focused on. Additionally, this paper also aims to provide future suggestions circulating around this matter. This matter holds a relatively high significance where thorough examination and documentation is conducted. Another reason for its significance is the scarce amount of research on this area in Malaysia. Besides, the number of empirical research performed on Takaful is still scarce although the investigation into Takaful demand, specifically regarding the methods of enhancing market penetration, has been conducted for almost 30 years in Malaysia.

However, studies showed that government privileges and assistance did little in building the entrepreneurial culture, competitiveness and achievement of the Bumiputras, as critics kept criticizing the effectiveness of the support. Hence, this study aims to dig out to ascertain the extent to which the supports given by the government to the Bumiputra entrepreneurs has been fruitful and also determine the effectiveness of the support programs. The study employs a qualitative approach by conducting a semi structured interview with executive members of some entrepreneurship agencies in Malaysia.

Big five personality characteristics have proved to be a germinal personality theory providing insight scientifically into the causal factors that mold a person’s capabilities and bearing towards a purpose. However, in spite that the significance of this personality theory to personality research and the potentiality of these factors, few studies used this model on a Bumiputras sample in Malaysia. Hence, this paper highlights the significance of using Big five personality characteristics by exploring the personality characteristics of the Bumiputra entrepreneurs using the Big Five. The study was based on a pilot study conducted of a 100 Bumiputra entrepreneurs that are being supported by government agencies. Therefore, Exploratory Factor Analysis was adopted in extracting the relevant factors in the analysis. The eventual analysis resulted in two of the dimensions being significant which are conscientiousness and openness to experience, and the other three dimensions were found to be not significant. This finding was corroborated by previous studies done on big five which also revealed the prevalence of some of the dimensions in some societies, while the dearth of some dimensions concurrently. This indicates that the Bumiputra Malays in Terengganu are generally more reserved just as expected by their communitarian society ethics, values and traditions teach them politeness, courteousness and respectfulness. However, this raises the question whether the values conflict with the general notion of aggressiveness “survival of the fittest” thing of the current business world.

However, limited studies were conducted to examined the influence of IS resources on AIS capabilities particularly in co-operatives. Based on a comprehensive review of accounting and IS literature, this paper propose a model to assessing the link between IS resources and accounting information systems (AIS) capabilities, and its potential impact on cooperatives performance. The model is based on the resource-based view (RBV) that is used to define various dimensions of IS resources. This paper proposes seven IS resources that include external relationships; IS infrastructure; IS technical skills; business knowledge; internal relationships; IS planning and change management; and last but not least IS development. Apart from establishing a model for AIS capabilities building, this paper contributes to the literature by providing a better understanding on the roles of IS resources in AIS capability-building. The National Centre for Malay Manuscripts, under the National Library of Malaysia safeguards a large number of Islamic Malay Manuscripts whose contents have yet to be studied and explored. They cover numerous knowledge fields such as literature, history, religion, medicine, laws, constitutions, as well as amulets and tips. In terms of religious genre, Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence) seems to dominate even though the manuscripts in this field have not been categorized yet, as in the case for others. A researcher must scan the title, table of contents or some of the descriptions provided in the catalogues before he could determine the field of a certain manuscript. This proves to be challenging especially for those who lack the basic knowledge in Islamic disciplines. Therefore, this paper will discuss the identification of Fiqh manuscripts that exist at the Centre, the sub-fields as well as some reviews on selected manuscripts related to the field. The research method used is document analysis while scanning and collecting data. Then it was analysed using content analysis and comparative method to separate it from other knowledge fields. This initial study found that there exist a large number of manuscripts related to Fiqh in various sub fields such as ibadah (worship), muamalah (commercial transaction), munakahah (marriage) and jinayah (crime and punishment). This proved that Islamic scholars in Malay Archipelago have significant contributions in Islamic Fiqh. Therefore, further studies on Fiqh can be carried out based on the classical works of the Islamic scholars in Malay Archipelago.
