MEMBANGUN CLIENT SERVER DI UNIVERSITAS SATRIA MAKASSAR DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN RADMIN DAN NETWORK LOOKOUT MONITOR FOR EMPLOOYES PRO

Ismail Khalil Ibrahim

Impact of Population Growth on Economic Growth in Africa: A Dynamic Panel Data Approach (1980 -2015)

Amade Peter · Ibrahim Hassan Bakari

This study examines the impact of population growth on the economic growth of African countries using panel data approach from 1980 -2015. The impact of population growth on economic growth is still largely controversial at national and regional levels. The study used annual secondary data of fifty three (53) African countries sourced from the World Development Indicators database. Data were collected for economic growth, proxied by GDP, population growth, fertility rate, crude death rate and inflation rate. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, as well as dynamic panel models of difference and system GMM. The results of the difference and system GMM suggest that population growth exerts a positive impact on economic growth of Africa while fertility has a negative impact on economic growth of Africa. The paper concludes and recommends that population growth impacts positively on economic growth and thus African countries should adopt and implement pragmatic policy measures that will enhance the productivity of its population so as to reap more demographic dividends.

Optimizing the multidimensional aspects of the patient-physician relationship in the management of inflammatory bowel disease

Deborah Chew Chia Hsin · Zhiqin Wong · Norhayati Ibrahim +1 more

The patient-physician relationship has a pivotal impact on the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) outcomes. However, there are many challenges in the patient-physician relationship; lag time in diagnosis which results in frustration and an anchoring bias against the treating gastroenterologist, the widespread availability of medical information on the internet has resulted in patients having their own ideas of treatment, which may be incongruent from the treating physicians' goals resulting in patient physician discordance. Because IBD is an incurable disease, the goal of treatment is to sustain remission. To achieve this, patients may have to go through several lines of treatment. The period of receiving stepping up, top down or even accelerated stepping up medications may result in a lot of frustration and anxiety for the patient and may compromise the patient-physician relationship. IBD patients are also prone to psychological distress that further compromises the patient-physician relationship. Despite numerous published data regarding the medical and surgical treatment options available for IBD, there is a lack of data regarding methods to improve the therapeutic patient-physician relationship. In this review article, we aim to encapsulate the challenges faced in the patient-physician relationship and ways to overcome in for an improved outcome in IBD.

An analysis of dietary fiber and fecal fiber components including pH in rural Africans with colorectal cancer

Mohammed Faruk · Sani Ibrahim · Ahmed Adamu +14 more

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is now a major public health problem with heavy morbidity and mortality in rural Africans despite the lingering dietary fiber-rich foodstuffs consumption. Studies have shown that increased intake of dietary fiber which contribute to low fecal pH and also influences the activity of intestinal microbiota, is associated with a lowered risk for CRC. However, whether or not the apparent high dietary fiber consumption by Africans do not longer protects against CRC risk is unknown. This study evaluated dietary fiber intake, fecal fiber components and pH levels in CRC patients.

Identifying Isolated Glioblastoma Tissues in Human Patients through Their Optical and Spectral Properties

Hussein Mehidine · Fanny Poulon · A. Ibrahim +5 more

Survival rates and health-related quality of life of adult patients suffering from glioblastoma depend significantly on the extent (no residual tumor tissue) and precision (no collateral damage) of the surgical resection. Assistance in defining the borders of the infiltrating component of the glioblastoma would be valuable to improve outcomes. A tissue can be defined by its optical properties : absorption, scattering, intensity of fluorescence, that will give a unique signature. In this work we look at the absorption and scattering coefficients of glioblastoma and control tissues from adult patients using an integrating sphere, spectral measurements were also took on the samples using a fiber endoscope. The preliminary results show the potential of using endogenous fluorescence for intraoperative identification of residual glioblastoma tissue in the wall of the surgical cavity of resection.

A Scientometric Approach for Personalizing Research Paper Retrieval

Nedra Ibrahim · Anja Habacha Chaïbi · Henda Ben Ghézala

Scientific researchers are a special kind of users which know their objective. One of the challenges facing todays’ researchers is how to find qualitative information that meets their needs. One potential method for assisting scientific researcher is to employ a personalized definition of quality to focus information search results. Scientific quality is measured by the mean of a set of scientometric indicators. This paper presents a personalized information retrieval approach based on scientometric indicators. The proposed approach includes a scientometric document annotator, a scientometric user model, a scientometric retrieval model and a scientometric ranking method. We discuss the feasibility of this approach by performing different experimentations on its different parts. The incorporation of scientometric indicators into the different parts of our approach has significantly improved retrieval performance which is rated for 41.66%. An important implication of this finding is the existence of correlation between research paper quality and paper relevance. The revelation of this correlation implies better retrieval performance.

Deploying Fog Applications: How Much Does It Cost, By the Way?

Antonio Brogi · Stefano Forti · Ahmad Ibrahim

Deploying IoT applications through the Fog in a QoS-, context-, and cost-aware manner is challenging due to the heterogeneity, scale and dynamicity of Fog infrastructures. To decide how to allocate app functionalities over the continuum from the IoT to the Cloud, app administrators need to find a trade-off among QoS, resource consumption and cost. In this paper, we present a novel cost model for estimating the cost of deploying IoT applications to Fog infrastructures. We show how the inclusion of the cost model in the FogTorchΠ open-source prototype permits to determine eligible deployments of multi-component applications to Fog infrastructures and to rank them according to their QoS-assurance, Fog resource consumption and cost. We run the extended prototype on a motivating scenario, showing how it can support IT experts in choosing the deployments that best suit their desiderata.
