In this paper, authors studied the integral antioxidant activity of kefir for baby food and the effect of the product's expiry date on this indicator. The integral antioxidant activity of kefir was determined on an “Expert-006” coulometer using coulometric titration with electro-generated bromine using rutin as a standard. The following points were chosen as control points for carrying out analytical work: release date, end of the expiry date, the period of time during which the food product, subject to storage conditions, must retain all of its properties specified in the regulatory documentation and a week after the expiration date. Such a trip allows us to determine a sample of fermented milk products that is distinguished by the highest biochemical value and high-quality preservation, and also to identify the brand of kefir for baby food and, as a result, the manufacturer, who should be preferred when buying goods. The object of the study in this work was several kefirs for children produced by OJSC «Zelenodolsk milk processing plant», OJSC «Lactis», LLC «Wimm Bill Dann». Studies have shown that the highest initial antioxidant activity was characterized by all control samples of kefir brand «For Babies» with the lowest declared expiry date. Moreover, an increase in the declared expiry date of sour-milk products led to a decrease in the value of the above indicator. A similar trend was observed when studying changes in the biochemical value of all studied samples during storage. The effect of storage duration on the integrated antioxidant activity of commercial products was evaluated by the level of its decrease (%) at the time of determination relative to its initial value. It was revealed that the kefir produced by OJSC «Zelenodolsk milk processing plant" had the highest integral antioxidant activity and was subjected to the least changes in this indicator during storage among all children's kefirs studied in the work.

3D spheroids are built by heterogeneous cell types in different proliferative and metabolic states and are enriched in cancer stem cells. The main aim of the study was to investigate the usefulness of a novel metastatic renal cell carcinoma (RCC) 3D spheroid culture for in vitro cancer stem cell physiology research and drug toxicity screening. RCC cell lines, Caki‑1 (skin metastasis derived) and ACHN (pleural effusion derived), were efficiently cultured in growth‑factor/serum deprived, defined, StemXvivo and Nutristem medium on laminin‑coated or poly‑D‑lysine‑coated plates. In optimal 3D culture conditions, ACHN cells (StemXVivo/poly‑D‑lysine) formed small spheroids with remaining adherent cells of an epithelial phenotype, while Caki‑1 cells (StemXVivo/laminin) formed large dark spheroids with significantly reduced cell viability in the center. In the 3D structures, expression levels of genes encoding stem transcription factors (OCT4, SOX2, NES) and RCC stem cell markers (CD105, CD133) were deregulated in comparison to these expression levels in traditional 2D culture. Sunitinib, epirubicin and doxycycline were more toxic to cells cultured in monolayers than for cells in 3D spheroids. High numbers of cells arrested in the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle were found in spheroids under sunitinib treatment. We showed that metastatic RCC 3D spheroids supported with ECM are a useful model to determine the cancer cell growth characteristics that are not found in adherent 2D cultures. Due to the more complex architecture, spheroids may mimic in vivo micrometastases and may be more appropriate to investigate novel drug candidate responses, including the direct effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitor activity against RCC cells.

Dado o atual cenário mundial e a necessidade de aumento de competitividade em todos os setores econômicos, o estudo logístico vem, progressivamente, ampliando sua importância dentro das organizações, uma vez que passou a ser reconhecido como uma das principais áreas de conhecimento geradora de diferenciais competitivos. Assim, esta pesquisa caracterizou a logística dos macroprocessos de Extração e Beneficiamento, em uma mineradora de ferro atuante no Estado do Pará, visando potencializar o suporte a decisões estratégicas que tornem os processos operacionais mais eficientes. Desse modo, este trabalho configurou-se como um estudo de caso, onde foram identificados, mapeados e caracterizados os componentes e recursos logísticos envolvidos nos macroprocessos supracitados. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica e documental, referentes aos processos analisados, que possibilitou maior detalhamento sobre a logística associada à cadeia produtiva do minério de ferro desenvolvida no Estado do Pará, bem como sobre os recursos logísticos envolvidos. Dessa maneira, foi apresentado um quadro resumo e um mapa de processos que, respectivamente, identifica os recursos e mostra como estes ocorrem nos macroprocessos estudados, além de evidenciar quais as consequências do emprego destes recursos na cadeia produtiva analisada.

A aprendizagem tradicional, focada em quadro e giz, tende a diminuir seu espaco entre educadores e educandos. Com isso o uso de diferentes metodologias ativas pode ser uma excelente alternativa aos estudantes passivos, despertando maior autonomia e significado na aprendizagem. Em vista disso, um modelo inovador de ensino foi proposto na disciplina de Biotecnologia, que esta na grade de Engenharia Quimica. Para a preparacao das aulas teoricas foram usadas estrategias, como Blended Learning , Peer Instruction, Team Based Learning (TBL) e Tecnica de Aplicacao para Resposta Imediata (TARI), reduzindo consideravelmente os momentos expositivos. A base da disciplina foi o Project Based Learning (PjBL), mediante o qual era proposto aos academicos desenvolver um produto de origem biotecnologica, no decorrer das aulas praticas. Os metodos de ensino adotados consideraram: o tema de estudo; o tempo de realizacao; as formas de avaliar o aprendizado; e a dinâmica para trabalhar com os discentes em sala. Por meio delas, percebeu-se que os estudantes adquiriram o conhecimento basico necessario para desenvolver os projetos, de modo a contemplar os resultados de aprendizagem esperados ao final da disciplina. Conclui-se tambem que, a aprendizagem quando aliada a um significado faz com que os discentes tornem-se mais motivados e participativos no processo. Alem disso, o uso de PjBL, apoiado por outras metodologias, despertou nas equipes maior autonomia e dedicacao, deixando-os mais engajados, criticos e envolvidos.

By using an integrative approach, we describe a new species of mayfly, Bungona ( Chopralla ) pontica sp. n. , from Turkey. The discovery of a representative of the tropical mayfly genus Bungona in the Middle East is rather unexpected. The new species shows all the main morphological characters of the subgenusChopralla , which has its closest related species occurring in southeastern Asia. Barcoding clearly indicated that the new species represents an independent lineage isolated for a very long time from other members of the complex. The claw is equipped with two rows of three or four flattened denticles. This condition is a unique feature of Bungona ( Chopralla ) pontica sp. n. among West Palaearctic mayfly species. Within the subgenusChopralla , the species can be identified by the presence of a simple, not bifid right prostheca (also present only in Bungona ( Chopralla ) liebenauae (Soldán, Braasch & Muu, 1987)), the shape of the labial palp, and the absence of protuberances on pronotum.

We consider a linear perturbation in the velocity field of the transport equation. We investigate solutions in the space of bounded Radon measures and show that they are differentiable with respect to the perturbation parameter in a proper Banach space, which is predual to the H\"older space $\mathcal{C}^{1+\alpha}(\mathbb{R}^d)$. This result on differentiability is necessary for application in~optimal control theory, which we also discuss.

A well‐established result in the literature is that Social Security reduces steady state welfare in a standard life cycle model. However, less is known about the historical quantitative effects of the program on agents who were alive when the program was adopted. In a computational life cycle model that simulates the Great Depression and the enactment of Social Security, this paper quantifies the welfare effects of the program's enactment on the cohorts of agents who experienced it. In contrast to the standard steady state results, we find that the adoption of the original Social Security generally improved these cohorts' welfare, in part because these cohorts received far more benefits relative to their contributions than they would have received if they lived their entire life in the steady state with Social Security. Moreover, the negative general equilibrium welfare effect of Social Security associated with capital crowd‐out was reduced during the transition, because it took many periods for agents to adjust their savings levels in response to the program's adoption. The positive welfare effect experienced by these transitional agents offers one explanation for why the program that may reduce welfare in the steady state was originally adopted.
